Design Advantages

At Sherborne we pay particular attention to designing both comfort and support into any piece we produce. We concentrate especially on providing ample lumbar support for the lower back and thigh support for the backs of the legs. We also ensure that all Recliners have backs high enough to fully support the head when used in all the recline positions.

Because finding the right size of Recliner is so important to your comfort we now offer four  popular Recliners in a choice of three different sizes. So if you choose a Lynton, a Malvern, a Keswick or a Comfi-sit there should be a size to fit - see the range of Malvern sizes below, for example.

Manual Recliner Chairs & Settees

All Manual Recliner Chairs & Settees use a superbly smooth Recliner action - we believe the easiest by far to operate - which can be positioned with the minimum of effort into any one of a near-infinite number of comfortable recline positions. It also includes the latest in 'zero wall' technology, which means that you can place the upright Recliner or Settee almost up against a wall and still fully recline it without hitting the wall.

Another advantage is that all Manual Recliner Chairs & Settees are offered with a choice of finger-release catch or large handle to open up the mechanism. Either can be requested for left-handed use if you so wish.

Powered Recliner Chairs & Settees

For the ultimate in effortless reclining comfort all Manual Recliners and Reclining Settees are also offered in fully Powered versions. These can be chosen with either the stylish handset shown or a two-button switch (shown left) conveniently fitted to the outside arm. The switch can also be requested for left-handed use where required. Both switch and handset are also available on Rechargeable versions, removing the need to leave a cable running to the wall socket.

All Powered Recliners and Settees also move through all positions from within 10cm (4") from the wall.

Reclining Settees

For ease of delivery all Reclining Settees are supplied in separate sections with lift-off backs (ends only of 3-Seaters).

Glides

For solid flooring you can choose GLIDES as an alternative to castors. These can be supplied on all Reclining Chairs and Settees, including Electric 'Lift & Rise' Care Recliners, and all other down-to-the-floor Chairs and Settees except Silverdale models. Also available on all Adjustable Beds.

All Sherborne Adjustable Beds are so robustly made that they can comfortably take up to 25 stone (159 kg) in weight. This is backed up by a 5 YEAR GUARANTEE on all actions, motors and frames.

  • Choice of Dual motor and Single motor designs
  • All Dual motor designs have an 'intelligent' fifth button on the handset which takes the back up and the feet down in unison in order to return to the sitting position from any reclined angle with the minimum of effort. It also lowers the Chair to the sitting position from any raised angle
  • All Dual motor designs enable the backrest and footrest to be operated independently to obtain the exact recline or seating angle you feel most comfortable in, including an amazingly low, near-horizontal fully reclined angle which is ideal for sleeping (needs a 38cm (15") gap from the wall)
  • All Single motor designs use an easy two-button handset which enables the footrest to be fully raised before the back starts reclining. They also allow the full sleeping position to be reached (less reclined than on Dual motor designs) from a starting point only 10cm (4") from the wall
  • A quick-release handset is fitted as standard to prevent unauthorised use
  • Single-use Emergency Back-up fitted as standard and highly-recommended Multi-use Battery Back-up available on all designs (at extra cost)
